Profile

Michael Leonard is the president and co-founder of LeonardPatel. His practice is focused primarily on intellectual property matters, including patent and trademark prosecution, drafting opinions, and litigation support. Mr. Leonard also counsels small businesses on business issues and strategy. Mr. Leonard has assisted clients with procuring patents in numerous fields, including aerospace, complex software technologies such as operating systems and modeling software, mobile telecommunications, optics, robotics, jet and rocket engines, electronics and circuit fabrication, materials, medical devices, and machine tools.

Prior to his career as an intellectual property attorney, Mr. Leonard was a software engineer and a consultant. Some of the technologies he assisted in developing include a Java-based embedded operating system, client and server-side business applications, databases, and software for mobile devices.

LeonardPatel assists government technology organizations such as NASA with evaluating and protecting promising technologies. We have a deep understanding of the process of protecting government intellectual property assets. We have a CAGE code, a DUNS number, and we are qualified as a SBA small business, as is often preferred for government contractors.

Startups And Individual Inventors

LeonardPatel offers end-to-end intellectual property services to startups and individual inventors, including evaluating the business case to determine whether intellectual property protection makes sense, procuring intellectual property protection, and, if desired, assisting with valuing and licensing the technology. We also attempt to connect startups with venture capital sources, where possible.
